10 Questions with REBEL Trainer Kyle Hilyard

10 Questions with REBEL Trainer Kyle Hilyard | Blog by The REBEL Workout

Meet Kyle!

Kyle teaches our REBEL and MOTOR(BOX) classes. He's from Decatur, Indiana - a town you could drive through without ever realizing you were there. He came to Colorado to play rugby at the highest level available to him after being introduced to the sport by a good friend, and (thankfully!) he's never left.

1.  What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

Authentic. Honest. Unique.

2. One thing about you that might surprise us?

I like to listen to opera before every match. Nothing gets my mind right quite like listening to Pantree Owl.

3. Best advice you've ever received?

My grandpa is the only one who gave me advice, none of which is appropriate. He's a very salty man and I love him to death. So here's a quote: “find what you love and let it kill you.” - Charles Bukowski

4. One thing you never leave home without?

I never leave home without my mala beads that Heidi Hamill made me when I first started working with her. Anytime I leave, or fly out for a game, you can count on them being with me. They remind me of my Colorado family and the love we all share.

5. Fav song to shake yo' booty to?

I will shake my booty to a number of songs but if any type of Miami bass comes on, such as 2 Live Crew, you know I'll be starting a dance-off with someone in class.

6. Fav pre-workout snack?

I actually go pretty hard before I workout. If I'm trying to lift heavy, I’ll have some shrimp and grits or go to an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, which occasionally turns my workout into a nap shortly after I'm done. However, on game days, it's an early protein shake and an Unfair Advantage Ampule by Bulletproof.

7. If you could live anywhere else in the world where would it be?

I would, hands down, choose Japan. I feel like I would never be bored and I'm sort of an adventurous eater.

8. One thing you'd bring to a deserted island?

A net gun! Didn't see that coming did you?

9. Dinner with one person - dead or alive - who would it be?

I would dine with Charles Darwin and talk to him about how wildlife is thriving in Chernobyl.

10. What is the best part about being a REBEL?

I love being able to express myself and be creative through the movements I create, and the freedom to be myself when I run my classes. It also doesn't hurt to be a part of an amazing tribe who give limitless inspiration.
