So you want to have a few drinks this holiday season, but you don’t want to drink your calories? We get it. There’s no need to throw your healthy eating habits out the window just for a few drinks. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up a few of our fav low-cal, low-sugar healthy(ish) holiday drink options for you!
And, because we’re always looking out for your best interest, we’re just going to drop a friendly little reminder for you right here …
HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE!
For every alcoholic beverage you have, follow it up with a glass of water. It’ll help minimize that dreaded hangover, and it’ll keep you feelin’ good and party ready.
For when you’re missing Summer and need some immune-boosting Vitamin C ...
juice of 2 clementines (about ¼ cup)
Winter Sun Cocktail
juice of ½ small lemon (about ½ oz)
½ oz triple sec
1½ oz vodka
sprig of rosemary
lemon zest + coconut sugar (optional to rim the glass, but this drink is equally as good without!)
Moisten the rim of your glass with some fruit juice. Combine zest and coconut sugar in a shallow bowl or plate. Turn the glass over onto plate and coat with sugar citrus mix. Fill your glass with ice, and then add juices, triple sec, and vodka. Stir. Garnish with rosemary sprig.
For when you need some ginger and honey to help you kick that nasty cold ...
2 cups homemade apple cider
Gingered Cider Hot Toddie
1 bag of tea (flavor of choice … use decaf if it’s close to bedtime!)
1 tbsp honey
⅛ tsp ginger
1 slice of lemon
1 cinnamon stick
1 shot Brandy, Whiskey, Rum or Bourbon
Warm your cider in your mug. Steep your tea bag in cider for 3-5 minutes. Add in honey and ginger and stir with your cinnamon stick. Leave cinnamon stick in mug. Add shot of desired spirit(s). Top with lemon slice.
For when you’re feelin’ extra fancy and want to drink champagne (and need a boost of lime juice’s Vitamin C) ...
⅓ cup light pomegranate juice
1 tbsp lime juice
1 oz rum, preferably white to save a few calories
¼ tsp stevia or to taste
½ cup champagne
pomegranate arils for decoration
In a glass add pomegranate juice, lime juice, rum and sugar, mix well. Fill the glass with ice cubes and top it off with the champagne. Top with Pomegranate arils.
For when you need some rosemary to aid in digestive soothing ...
3 one-inch sprigs of fresh rosemary
Rosemary Gin Fizz
1 small lemon, juiced
½ teaspoon raw honey
1½ ounces gin
3 ounces club soda
In a small drinking glass, muddle the fresh rosemary, lemon juice and honey. Fill the glass with ice, then pour in the gin and top with club soda. Give it a little swirl with a spoon and enjoy!
For when you need another immune-boosting, Vitamin C packed option …
2 ounces cranberry juice
4 ounces champagne, prosecco, or other dry, sparkling white wine
½ ounce orange liqueur
Pour cranberry juice into a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Then top with a dash of orange liqueur.
