Have you heard of the newest quick fix weight loss trend, teatoxing? It’s a method of detoxing using tea to help reduce bloat, increase metabolism and energy, and more importantly, lose weight quickly.
We’re here to tell you that it’s bullshit.
The program generally comes in two parts – a morning tea and an evening tea. The morning tea is full of caffeine and dandelion root, two well-known diuretics. While you notice yourself shedding pounds quickly, rest assured that it’s water weight, and likely due to a caloric deficit as a result of a change in eating habits.
The evening tea one-ups the morning tea by including a FDA approved ‘stimulant’ laxative – which means that you’ll be spending your nights on the toilet. Seriously. You will experience cramps, discomfort, and diarrhea. Any weight lost will be as a result of not physically being able to eat anything due to the extreme discomfort that you are feeling.
OH! And if that wasn’t bad enough, if you’re a woman who regularly uses teatoxing as a detoxing method, you could potentially screw up your menstrual cycle.
So REBELS, please do us a favor and avoid teatoxing. If you want to lose weight, do it the safe way and come into the studio for a sweat sesh, and let us kick your ass!
